Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3

Welcome to the Guatemalago website and thank you for trusting and taking the time to investigate our intentions. My name is Jim and my family and I had the privilege of working alongside Bob and Janice here in Guatemala. Our intention is to inform those unaware of the events of the past several months in Guatemala and provide a liaison for any questions or comments concerning Bob and Janice and their Friends Across the Water Ministry.

We have dedicated this site to Bob and Janice and the work God began with them. It will  take 10 to 15 minutes to go through the video and information provided, laid out in the following format:

  • The Accident
  • The Work of Bob and Janice Here in Guatemala
  • The Continuance of Their Work and Ministry
  • Conclusion

The place of Bob and Janice right now is the place of perfect peace. We will truly miss them, their fellowship and assistance, and their presence. But they were a part of the family of God on earth involved in His work. That work does not stop; God has a plan for its continuance.

Please continue on to information on **** The Accident.**** We present this information as a matter of closure with no other intention.

  1. I met Bob on his birthday in 1977. I was a brash college kid, he was… well, a brash high-school kid. We somehow forged a friendship That has endured, by God’s grace, for almost thirty-three years.

Our last communication with him was on 1 September, when he sent my wife Kim a birthday greeting via Facebook. I heard nothing from him on my birthday; I simply wrote it off as his being busy doing important things, and really never gave it another thought.

I heard last night, 10 November, the second monthiversary (?) or their burial.

I have a picture of Bob and Adam at Kim’s and my wedding. Maybe I can find a way to post it.

I didn’t know Janice that well; but I knew enough to know if she could put up with Bob, she must be a spirit-filled woman!

I wept last night, after I heard, something I’ve not done since I lost a cousin similarly young more than two decades ago.

I will miss the two of them very, very much.

I met Janice Ross on a Tres Dias #39. We both worked in the kitchen and roomed together. She told me about her and her husband sailing and a friendship that had been formed. She talked about the ministry that was being birthed. She was sponsoring a woman on that weekend and was very excited to see what God was going to do. I was Special Diet CHA and she made sure I knew just what her candidate needed.

When I first got an email from her husband I was like who is this and if it was not for her picture with him I would have just deleted the updates on where they were and what they were doing.

I was very blessed to know her and I regret that I did not get to know her better.

I am sorry to know that are gone but not sorry to know that they are home together.

I am so sorry to hear this tragic news. They were friends and visited our church several times in Savannah, GA.

I am so sorry to hear the news, but happy to know they are in “perfect peace.” They were wonderful people and visited our church in Florida several times. I am glad to hear their work will be continued. God bless.

    Hey Brother,
I was the pastor that spoke at Janice’s memorial. I would like to get your contact information. We want to see if it is God’s will and if practical to bring our HS Seniors down for a spring missions trip.

    Email or call @ 850 539-xxxx, cell 850 556-xxxx.
    Blessings to you all,
Randy Ross – Tallavana Church and school.
